SARAJEVO, September 4 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Staša Košarac welcomed the adoption of the Decision on approving the maximum possible power of reception from renewable energy sources in the electricity system of BiH, thus increasing the current quota from 460 MW to 840 MW for wind farms, i.e., from 400 MW to 825 MW for photovoltaic power plants.
The decision was adopted by the State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC) at the proposal of the Independent System Operator in BiH (ISO), with the support and active participation of representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH.
"This decision is a product of joint activities of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, SERC and ISO BiH, which will enable the integration of significant installed capacities from renewable energy sources to the satisfaction of a large number of investors.
This means that in the future, the share of renewable sources in the production ratio of BiH will significantly increase, and at the same time, greenhouse gas emissions will decrease, which is the obligation of BiH under the Stabilization and Association Agreement in the part of obligations related to the energy transition and the policies of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH," said Minister Košarac.
He added that, in addition to numerous benefits in the field of ecology, the integration of renewable energy sources can meet the requirements of consumption at the local level, which gives additional impetus to the stability of the BiH power system and its flexibility.
"Undoubtedly, investing in renewable energy projects will lead to the creation of new jobs and the improvement of the overall business climate in BiH," said Minister Košarac.
