FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, September 2 (FENA) - Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Fadil Novalić and the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to BiH Matthew Field discussed today the current state of the economy in the Federation of BiH caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as future cooperation in the implementation of reform measures.

The FBiH Prime Minister briefed Ambassador Field on the Government’s short-term measures taken to mitigate the economic consequences caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking about the initiated medium-term measures, which include the formation of the Guarantee Fund at the FBiH Development Bank, Prime Minister Novalić also spoke about direct assistance to the most vulnerable sectors, such as tourism, carriers, airports and exporters, which is planned to be done through the upcoming budget revision.

Novalić added that in these processes, the help of the UK is extremely important, as well as in the process of creating a more favorable economic environment through the adoption of reform laws related to fiscalization, contributions, public companies and health care. In this regard, he expressed gratitude for everything that the United Kingdom has done in BiH.

Ambassador Field said that he would continue his engagement in the implementation of Britain's policy aimed at building a prosperous BiH and that his country, as before, is ready to assist the Federation of BiH in economic recovery and implementation of necessary reform measures and action plans, stated the FBiH Government press office.
