BiHPA Joint Committee rejects initiative to employ more border police officers

SARAJEVO, September 2 (FENA) - The Joint Committee on Defense and Security of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH took note of the Information on the Implementation Plan of the "Defense Review" and Action Plan for the implementation of the "Plan of Development and Modernization of the BiH Armed Forces 2017-2027", made by the BiH Ministry of Defense.

The members of the Joint Committee did not support the initiative of MP Denis Bećirović, which would instruct the Council of Ministers of BiH to, in the shortest possible legal period from the day of adoption of this initiative in the House of Peoples, in cooperation with the competent authorities, take the necessary activities in order to employ 309 new border police officers at the BiH Border Police, in accordance with the Rulebook on Internal Organization of the BiH Border Police in order to stop illegal migration along the entire state border of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Members of the Joint Committee postponed the statement on the Report from the review conference on the topic "Legislative framework, current situation and plans of BiH institutions in the field of defense and security". However, they adopted a conclusion instructing the management of the Joint Committee to update and harmonize the conclusions proposed with this Report.

The Joint Committee did not take note of the Information of the BiH Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies and the letter of the FBiH Ministry of Interior regarding the implementation of the Agreement on Operational and Strategic Cooperation with EUROPOL, announced the PR Office of the BiH PA.
