SARAJEVO, August 27 (FENA) - The Sarajevo Canton Assembly today adopted Decisions on accepting a loan, under the Loan Agreement between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), for the Energy Efficiency Project in public buildings.

Minister of Finance of the Sarajevo Canton Jasmin Halebić said that the loan is in the amount of 8,000,000 euros, with a repayment period of 13 years, a grace period of three years, an interest rate that includes six-month Euribor + one percent margin per year, with a semi-annual maturity and equal repayments of principal on April 20 and October 20, and a one-time commission of one percent on the principal amount of the loan.

"The purpose of this project is to enable the introduction of energy efficiency measures in approximately 40 public buildings - schools, hospitals, kindergartens and other public buildings of general interest. The project will introduce cleaner and more efficient heating, better insulation, better lighting and the overall condition of the buildings will improve,” said Halebić.

According to preliminary estimates, which were taken from the Study on Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings in the Sarajevo Canton, the energy renovation of public buildings is expected to achieve a total annual savings of about 1,687,130 KM.

"The Government has accepted the European Union investment grant from the Regional Energy Efficiency Program for the Western Balkans in the amount of 2,000,000 euros, under the Grant Agreement between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the EBRD for the energy efficiency project in public buildings,” added Minister.

It is the project "Energy efficiency in public buildings of the Sarajevo Canton" to which the Government of SC in March last year gave consent for its launch with funds in the total amount of 10,000,000 euros (eq.19,558,300 KM), of which it was then planned to secure the amount of 8,000,000 euros through foreign debts, and the rest of the funds in the amount of up to 2,000,000 euros through grant funds.
