BANJA LUKA, August 2 (FENA) - The negative effects of the coronavirus pandemic are especially visible in the tourism sector, therefore mostly domestic guests recorded visits to tourist places in June in the Republika Srpska.

In June this year, there were 11,581 tourist arrivals, which is 390.9 percent more than in May, when numerous movement bans were in force due to the coronavirus.

However, the number of tourist arrivals in June 2020 compared to the same month last year decreased by as much as 72.8 percent, and the number of overnight stays decreased by 70.9 percent.

There are 8,295 domestic tourists registered in this BiH entity, out of a total of 11,581 recorded in June.

They mostly visited hotels and similar accommodation (7,788 arrivals) with 15,828 overnight stays.

On the other hand, most foreign tourists were from Serbia (2,324), Croatia 395, and Montenegro 156.

The large decline in the number of tourist arrivals and overnight stays is a direct consequence of the global spread of Covid-19 disease, as borders have been closed and certain accommodation facilities have been shut down, as well as delays in tourist traffic.
