SARAJEVO, July 21 (FENA) - Head of the European Union Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina and EU Special Representative in BiH Johann Sattler handed over today two high-quality ventilators to the Cantonal Hospital in Zenica, which, as Cantonal Prime Minister Mirza Ganic said, has confirmed the European Union as a long-standing partner of the Zenica-Doboj Canton.
He stated that this is the second donation of urgently needed equipment. He thanked the representatives of the European Union, especially Ambassador Sattler, who, as he says, selflessly provides support.
“In addition to the presentation of today’s donation, we discussed economic issues, the fight against Covid-19 pandemic and the equipping of the Cantonal Hospital,” said Ganić and reminded that the hospital is not in an enviable situation that it is still one of the biggest polluters in Zenica.
Sattler stated that more than 300,000 euros have so far been provided for equipment in the Zenica-Doboj Canton and that the two high-quality ventilators were delivered today to the hospital.
“It was important for me not only to be present in the main centers but also to come to other cities. Zenica is known as an active city, with a large number of employees, and active civil society,” Sattler emphasized.
He noted that the coronavirus crisis is far from over and called on the population to adhere to all the recommendations.
The cantonal Minister of Health Adnan Jupić also said that the donation is a confirmation of good cooperation and stressed that the equipment they received from the EU is high quality and will be put to good use.
Director of the Zenica Cantonal Hospital, Rasim Skomorac said that it would be important to equip the intensive care with quality machines before autumn as this would provide the necessary assurance to the patients.
