SARAJEVO, July 20 (FENA) - Vice President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Melika Mahmutbegović sent her sincere condolences to the families of all Prijedor victims, stating that Prijedor is part of ours, but must also be part of the collective memory of our civilization.
“July is one of the saddest months, in which we commemorate crimes against Bosniaks throughout our country. These days, we marked the 25th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, the anniversary of the crimes against Bosniaks in Bugojno, Stolac, the horrific massacre in Biljani near Ključ, where a baby was among the victims. We remember Višegrad and the 'Living Bonfire', victims of mass rapes ... Bosnia and Herzegovina is the only country in Europe, if not the world, where even 25 years after the aggression and genocide, collective funerals are held in which we bury our loved ones, or we are still searching for their bones in mass graves, such as Tomašica, in Prijedor,” said Mahmutbegović.
She added that today we remember the victims of Prijedor, as we remember every innocent victim in Bosnia and Herzegovina, regardless of nationality and that we must say “never again!”
“Never again should children be killed, never again should mothers cry, never again should entire generations and families be killed and whole villages wiped out,” said Mahmutbegović.
The collective funeral and burial of the remains of innocent victims of war crimes in Prijedor will be held today on the plateau of the Memorial Center "Kamičani" in Kozarac.
