Continued support of OSCE Mission to BiH Central Election Commission

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, June 29 (FENA) - Cooperation between the Central Election Commission (CEC) of BiH and the OSCE Mission to BiH has existed since the establishment of the CEC, and is reflected in the implementation of numerous projects aimed at conducting elections in BiH in accordance with international standards, but also strengthening the technical capacity of the BiH Central Election Commission.

The OSCE Mission to BiH, as part of the support set to the Audit Department of the CEC BiH, today donated laptops and cameras that the Department will use in its future work. Thanks to this donation, the technical capacities of the CEC of BiH have been improved, which will, among other things, contribute to greater transparency of the election process in BiH.

Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH, Ambassador Kathleen Kavalec, handed over the donation to the President of the CEC of BiH, Vanja Bjelica-Prutina, who thanked the OSCE Mission to BiH on behalf of the Central Election Commission for continuous support to strengthen the overall integrity of the election process in BiH, it was announced from the CEC.

The statement said that the OSCE Mission to BiH had previously provided technical equipment for live broadcast of CEC BiH sessions via live streaming, an IT platform for statements of elected officials, an IT platform for the complaints processing segment, and was one of the partners that provided transparent ballot boxes.

In addition, the OSCE Mission to BiH provides significant support in organizing the 2020 Local Elections, such as making videos on filling out and submitting PRP1 and PRP2 forms, thus assisting the BiH Central Election Commission in educating voters outside BiH.

It is also providing support to the Central Election Commission of BiH in educating vulnerable categories of voters such as persons with disabilities, but also providing support for the implementation of OSCE / ODIHR recommendations related to the prevention of the so-called "family voting", the CEC of BiH announced.
