Borenović: Public funds robbed through the purchase of ventilators in RS

BANJA LUKA, June 9 (FENA) - President of the Party of Democratic Progress (PDP) Branislav Borenović claims that Republika Srpska has allocated 7.8 million KM for 50 ventilators and that, as he says, it is a senseless "robbery of people's money".

Borenović stated at the press conference that RS, through the Public Health Fund, purchased ventilators from the company "Medietik" from Banja Luka at the price of 157.312 KM per piece, but they were purchased at almost three times lower price, i.e. for 59.000 KM.

“The market price of these ventilators is from 18,000 to 27,000 KM. Is it normal for ventialators to be paid three times more than they are worth,” said Borenović.

He believes that this tells a lot about the way people's money is spent, where ventilators are purchased at a price 100,000 KM higher than the purchase price or four to five times higher than the market price.

“It is just one of the controversial purchases that took place in the previous few months. We requested from the Temporary Commission of Inquiry of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH detailed information on all intervention imports from March 15 to the end of May and there were 330 intervention imports, of which 80 percent were made by the company 'Medietik',” added Borenović.

He points out that individuals close to the authorities took advantage of the situation during the state of emergency.

“It is important that key people in RS give us answers to these questions. I am not interested in what Milorad Dodik says, but I want to hear what the Minister of Health Alen Šeranić says about everything, is there any information, is it normal for ventilators to be paid over 150,000 KM and what will they do about it? What does the Prime Minister, and even the Mayor of Banja Luka, Igor Radojičić, say,” stated the president of PDP.

PDP MP in the RS National Assembly, Draško Stanivuković, said that the owner of the company that procured these ventilators is the husband of Milorad Dodik's advisor, Ana Trišić Babić.

He says that RS procured respirators for 52.000 KM more than in FBiH, for which actors in that BiH entity were arrested.

“I expect that Višković, Šeranić and Kusturić will be arrested and interrogated,” says Stanivuković.

He also stated that it is necessary to accept the initiative for the establishment of the Inquiry Commission of the National Assembly of the RS, which will deal with public procurement during the coronavirus pandemic.
