SARAJEVO, May 20 (FENA) - Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH Dragan Čović said today in Sarajevo that the parliamentary majority does not exist, and that attitudes are becoming more distant every day.

“It is possible that some parties agree on something, but take today's and yesterday's session of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, the previous session and you will see that there is no agreement represented by the parliamentary majority. It goes so far to knowingly break the laws, specifically the Election Law of BiH, and even the Constitution when, for example, bodies are appointed and members of the Central Election Commission are dismissed,” said Čović during a gathering with journalists in Sarajevo.

He added that today he has meetings with SBB leader Fahrudin Radončić, SNSD Milorad Dodik, SDA Bakir Izebegović, as well as with the Ambassadors of the USA and the EU.

“I had a meeting with Izetbegović earlier today, and the topic of the meeting was the lack of a parliamentary majority and funds from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). My position on that issue was that we should only respect the Constitution and the law,” said Čović, recalling the precise agreement when it comes to allocation of 330 million euros from the IMF.

He emphasized that everything was agreed, adopted and made public, and that it should be implemented, and the IMF was informed as well.

“In order for that money to be transferred from the Central Bank of BiH, there are clear procedures and the only thing we don't have now are the decisions of the Council of Ministers of BiH, which should go as a clear instruction to the Central Bank of BiH in Sarajevo. There is no politics here and it is a job that was completed a long time ago, and everything else is outwitting,” Čović underlined.

When asked about the possible postponement of this year's local elections, Čović stated that in that case, BiH would prolong the process that is constitutionally defined and is repeated every four years.

“I hope that we will have all the preconditions for organizing local elections, respecting all the criteria that the staffs and experts should give in the next few months when it comes to the pandemic,” Čović added.

He said that he would not be carried away by the thoughts that now is the opportunity to reach an agreement on the old idea of uniting general and local elections.

When it comes to the mass that Cardinal Vinko Puljić served on May 16 for the victims of Bleiburg, Čović said that, as far as he was concerned, it was a mass like any other around the world, and that he would not comment on it.
