SARAJEVO, May 17 (FENA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH (MFA BiH) has asked the institutions of the Republic of Croatia for an official response on the events in the BiH-Croatia border zone.
Based on the letter submitted by the representatives of the Una-Sana Canton through the Ministry of Security of BiH, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH on Friday, May 15, through diplomatic channels requested clarification from the Croatian institutions on activities undertaken by the Croatian Forests in the border zone near Mount Plješevica and the former Željava airport.
BiH Foreign Minister Bisera Turković stressed that she understands the need to improve state border control in the field of illegal migration, which is a major security challenge for all countries in the region, but that the best effects can be achieved only with mutual cooperation and close coordination.
Therefore, the Ministry expects that the authorities of the Republic of Croatia will present official information and inform the institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina about the measures taken and reasons for undertaking certain activities that are interpreted differently by the public and agree on a mutually acceptable solution in a good neighborly manner, stated the MFA BiH.
