SARAJEVO, May 16 (FENA) - Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH, Ambassador Kathleen Kavalec, together with other ambassadors and representatives of the international community, laid flowers to honor the victims of the Second World War on Saturday at the Vraca Memorial Park and the Jewish Cemetery in Sarajevo.
Kavalec told reporters in Vraca that she was there on behalf of the OSCE Mission to BiH and other institutions within that organization.
"Our intention today was to come and pay tribute to the victims of fascism. We have in our thoughts all the relatives of the victims who are still suffering because of what had happened to their family members," said Kavalec.
Our goal as the OSCE Mission, she added, is to always work to promote peace and reconciliation.
"That is why we are here today," she said.
Asked by reporters if this event had anything to do with the Mass at the Cathedral in Sarajevo held on Saturday as well, she said that their presence in Vraca was "a sign of respect we feel for the victims and our understanding of the pain their families experience because of the loss they had suffered."
