SARAJEVO, May 10 (FENA) - In the last 24 hours, 649 people were tested in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the presence of the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus was confirmed in seven people, said a member of the Crisis Staff of the FBiH Ministry of Health and Assistant Minister for Public Health, Goran Čerkez.

The newly infected persons are from Magal, Tešanj and Bosanski Petrovac.

From the beginning of the pandemic until today, 22,927 people have been tested in FBiH. 993 cases of coronavirus infection were registered, and 634 people have recovered from that number until today, while 35 patients have died.

In today's address, Čerkez pointed out that the reduction of restrictive measures is expected in the coming weeks, which will be elaborated with more details after the meeting of the Crisis Staff, which will be held at the beginning of next week.

Thus, around May 14, public transportation could start operating, and kindergartens could open too.

The agenda of the meeting also includes the issue of opening dental clinics, and launching of certain outdoor sports activities, as well as the number of people who can hold certain indoor activities, or, as he explained, holding gatherings of up to 15 people, which would enable the hotel and tourism sector to starts working.

"We call on all citizens to continue to be careful, to use personal protection, distance. Then, we can say that we are pretty secure," he said.

Čerkez said that the authorities in the FBiH Ministry of Health are guided by the epidemiological situation, and not by someone's desire to relax the measures, commenting on the possibility of abolishing self-isolation period for the diaspora coming to BiH.

"We are monitoring the easing of the measures in Europe and the region and we will act accordingly. All BiH citizens can enter BiH, but in order to protect the rest of the population, self-isolation remains mandatory for 14 days," said Čerkez.

He emphasized that the liberalization of entries and departures from BiH could take place after June 15, adding that, as far as the economy is concerned, the measures for persons coming to BiH under special conditions have already been relaxed.

When it comes to normalization in the health system sector, Čerkez said that a decree has been issued on April 29 for the cantonal staffs to start returning the health system to full function.
