SARAJEVO, May 7 (FENA) - Member of the FBiH Civil Protection Staff and Director of the FBiH Public Health Institute, Davor Pehar confirmed that the positive and favorable trends regarding the number of people infected with coronavirus have continued in the past 24 hours.

During that period, 706 people were tested in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Covid-19 was confirmed in 11 cases. New cases are from Zenica, Travnik, Vitez and Sarajevo.

So far, a total of 21,187 people have been tested, and Covid-19 has been confirmed in a total of 964 people. Of the currently active patients, 40 are in hospital, two have a more severe clinical state and have been placed o a ventilator.

In the FBiH, Pehar added, to date, 530  patients recovered from coronavirus infection, while there are still 401 cases.

A total of 34 fatalities have been registered related to coronavirus infection.

"Unfortunately, in the last 24 hours, we had one death in Mostar and it was a patient from Čapljina (1963) who had a severe clinical condition and was on a ventilator," said Pehar.

He emphasized that one of the most effective prescribed anti-epidemic measures is border control and it has produced results.

All those who return to BiH must spend 14 days under healthcare supervision and limited movement.

"We are still not considering abolishing this measure, since 14 days is the incubation period for coronavirus. This is the period recommended by the World Health Organization," explained Pehar.
