SARAJEVO, April 3 (FENA) - The Board of Directors of the Association of BH Journalists requested today that the Director of the Sarajevo University Clinical Center (KCUS), Sebija Izetbegović, provides journalists and all media outlets equal access to information regarding the coronavirus epidemic in Sarajevo, its effects on public health and the measures taken by this healthcare facility.
According to a press release, they received complaints from some journalists that the KCUS Press Service is inaccessible to certain journalists and does not respond to inquiries from some media outlets, while Director Izetbegović performs the selection of which media outlets can obtain information so she can ensure "exclusivity" and priority in obtaining information of public importance.
Expressing concern over the fact that citizens of the Sarajevo Canton and the entire BiH cannot obtain accurate, comprehensive and credible information, the Association of BH Journalists requested that the KCUS Director establishes a "permanent, efficient and non-discriminatory communication system with all media outlets, including releasing daily information to the public on issues relating to public health, the measures taken by KCUS in the treatment of diseased citizens and the spread of Covid-19."
Also, the Board once again appeals to the Crisis Staff of the Sarajevo Cantona and the Crisis Staff of the Federation of BiH to not release information selectively, as well as to stop avoiding answering questions submitted to them by media outlets via e-mail.
