BiH receives EUR 7.200.000 from international organisations and agencies

SARAJEVO, March 23 (FENA) - Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Chairman of the Coordinating Body of BiH, Fahrudin Radončić, held a videoconference today with representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations in BiH on the current situation and needs of BiH in the fight against coronavirus.

More than 60 representatives of embassies, missions and international organizations, as well as Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zoran Tegeltija attended the conference.

Participants were provided with lists of necessary medical and protective equipment for health institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, i.e. FBiH, RS and Brčko District.

US Ambassador to BiH Eric Nelson, Head of the EU Delegation to BiH Johann Sattler, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey Haldun Koc, Ambassadors of Switzerland Andrea Rauber Saxer, Republic of Croatia Ivan Sabolić, Chargé d'affaires at the Norwegian Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Siri Andersen, Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH, Kathleen Kavalec, and many others spoke at the conference.

Representatives of USAID, UNDP, Save the Children, IBRD and other international institutions also attended the videoconference.

Participants of the videoconference emphasized the strong solidarity of their countries to BiH citizens and pledged concrete assistance to citizens.

US Ambassador as well as several other ambassadors did the same, and Ambassador Johann Sattler informed them that the EU had already allocated seven million EUR to help BiH. The Swiss Embassy allocated USD 200.000, it is said in a statement.

Chairman of the Council of Ministers Zoran Tegeltija and Minister of Security Fahrudin Radončić emphasized that, with a humanitarian aspect, it is now even more important that EU countries and international partners make it possible to buy respirators, protective equipment, medicines and other medical equipment urgently and bring it to BiH .

The importance of transparent work was emphasized at the conference, and several conference participants stressed the urgency of adopting the budget at the state level as one of the preconditions for coordinating the fight against coronavirus, the BiH Ministry of Security stated.
