BIHAĆ, March 19 (FENA) - Bihać Mayor Šuhret Fazlić stressed today that water system, sanitation and lighting systems will be set up tomorrow at the locality of Lipa, but reiterated that the City of Bihać on its own cannot provide tent settlement and adequate care for migrants who would eventually be moved from the city center.
"We have secured the power unit, we are also looking for tents and we will really do everything in our power. I am trying to secure the support of the European Commission and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) because, without them, the tent settlement will not be able to function properly.
I hope that all the competent institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina will be involved as a matter of urgency in solving this problem. We simply need the help of everyone," said Fazlić.
He also added that it is unfair to treat the current situation and the danger of coronavirus in the country without treating the problem of nearly 2,000 migrants residing on the streets and abandoned facilities in Bihać.
"We restrict the movement and activities of citizens of Bihać and the Una Sana Canton due to the threat of coronavirus infection, and almost 2,000 migrants walk the streets every day without any control.
I hope that those whose help is crucial finally understand where the focus of the problem must be," Fazlić emphasized.
