SARAJEVO, March 18 (FENA) - Police officers at the BiH Border Police Central Investigative Office have arrested a BiH Border Police officer deployed at the Brčko border crossing on suspicion of allowing persons, who were coming from countries affected by new coronavirus, to enter BiH.
Namely, there are grounds for suspicion that the said police officer, on March 15, 2020, allowed illegal entry for three persons who came from the area which was banned from entering BiH due to coronovirus, the BiH Border Police said.
They should have been issued a decision to ban the entry to BiH or should have been placed in self-isolation with a previous decision issued by the competent authority. However, for a certain amount of money, he directly threatened the public health of a large number of BiH citizens by allowing entry of these persons into the territory of BiH.
The above-mentioned persons were found, located and isolated by the BiH Border Police and Brčko District police officers, thus preventing the greater consequences of these illegal activities.
“I am appalled by the behavior of individuals who embarrass this police agency, which is facing huge challenges. It is shameful and devastating, especially at times like these, to have irresponsible and unprofessional individuals who knowingly make terrible mistakes,” said Director of the BiH Border Police Zoran Galić.
He added that such behavior is unacceptable, especially at a time when the entire country is facing major challenges caused by the Covid-19 virus and the migrant crisis.
