ZENICA, March 17 (FENA) - ArcelorMittal Zenica (AMZ), the largest exporter form Bosnia and Herzegovina last year, is focused on ensuring maximum protection for health of workers and their families and introducing enhanced preventive measures in the protection from coronavirus, AMZ's new director Nikhil Mehta stated for FENA.
"As BiH's largest exporter, we will do everything we can to protect our workers. We expect the same from the state of BiH. I am sure that together we will overcome this difficult period for all BiH citizens," Mehta said.
Answering the question whether there was or may be dismissal of workers, he stressed that "this is out of the question at this time".
"All actions will be taken to prevent this from happening. Many AMZ workers have been instructed to work from home, but their wages will not be affected. The purpose is to protect our workers," Mehta said.
He noted that closing borders can have two effects, namely preventing their employees from traveling abroad, especially to Western European countries, as well as preventing contractors from coming to implement projects at AMZ.
He hopes that the continuous communication and cooperation of the competent institutions of BiH with the countries in the region will greatly facilitate their business and they believe that the BiH institutions will do everything to protect the economy of the country.
