Jurić: We expect a jump in the number of patients in BiH in the next 15 days

FENA

MOSTAR, March 16 (FENA) - An increase in the number of new coronavirus patients can be expected in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the next fifteen days, regardless of any measures we take, told FENA today an epidemiologist of the FBiH Institute of Public Health, Dr. Andrea Jurić.

"Regardless of the fact that every day we are taking new measures that are becoming more rigorous, regardless of the fact that everyone who comes to BiH must be quarantined, we expect a similar scenario as in the surrounding countries and an increase in the number of patients in the coming days.

It is important to point out that it is not as deadly as the flu, but there are many indicators of the risks of potential infection. This virus is much more dangerous than the flu virus, and it is very important to point that out," said Dr. Jurić.

She said self-protection is essential in this situation as well as adherence to recommended measures to combat the spread of the epidemic.

"Self-isolation, self-protection, hygiene measures, as well as keeping a safe distance from other people around you is extremely important for the citizens in this situation," she assessed and told the citizens that no measure can protect them if they do not protect themselves.

"No matter how much the system protects you, the most you can do is help yourself," emphasized Dr. Jurić.

She advised citizens not to buy disposable masks in panic, because they will not help them, saying that disposable gloves are a better choice.

"If more people get ill, when citizens go to shops, to purchase necessary goods, etc., they will need disposable gloves. It is also important to have alcohol-based disinfectants, ventilate the premises because the viruses are sensitive to UV light, stay outdoors more and less indoors with larger groups of people," explained Dr. Jurić.
