BIHAĆ, March 11 (FENA) - More than 150 officers of the Interior Ministry of the Una-Sana Canton (USC MoI) participated this morning in a raid of the premises of the Bira Reception Camp in Bihać. The police arrested ten Afghan and Pakistani nationals, and a certain amount of narcotics and items were found that could have served to cause harm and physical injuries.
“The operation of the police was aimed at finding suspects for committing crimes against sexual freedom and morality, including the crimes of rape and sexual assault against an impaired person. We also searched for persons related to the criminal offenses of drug abuse, i.e., unauthorized production, distribution and use of narcotic drugs, as well as criminal offenses against property and robberies. Of course, the operation was aimed at finding items and leads which could serve in the further procedure, but also items that could be used as a means of causing injuries,” said the USC MoI spokesman Ale Šiljdedić.
Ten beneficiaries of the camp, nationals of Afghanistan and Pakistan and are suspected of committing these offenses.
“Criminal proceedings are pending against them, after which they will be transferred to the Prosecutor's Office of the Una Sana for further proceeding. Due to the sensitivity of such cases, the Center for Social Work of the City of Bihać is included in all activities,” Šiljdedić added.
The Bira Temporary Reception Camp in Bihać currently houses nearly 2,000 people, including 350 to 400 minors and unaccompanied children. It has also been confirmed that more than 5,000 illegal migrants are located in the canton, and that 100 new people arrive almost daily.
