SARAJEVO, March 6 (FENA) - Police officers of the Central Investigation Office of the Border Police (BP) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, while carrying out activities to prevent, detect and prove illegal, corrupt acts, arrested five officers of the Border Police Unit Brod today.
Police officers of the Central Investigation Office performed activities at the International Border Crossing Point Brod, together with police officers of the Support and Control Unit of the Field Office Istok, under the supervision of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, and under suspicion that the crime of "receiving gifts and other forms of benefit" was committed, the BiH Border Police announced.
Five police officers from the Border Police Unit Brod were arrested in the operation, and in addition to the search of the suspected police officers, the premises of the International Border Crossing Point Brod used by the suspected police officers have been searched.
It is alleged that a certain amount of money was found during the search, which is suspected to have originated from the commission of crime.
"These activities represent a clear commitment of the BiH Border Police, led by its leadership, to oppose all forms of corrupt behavior of BiH BP police officers. Therefore, we urge and encourage all citizens and travelers to report any form of corrupt behavior they find or have knowledge about", said BiH Border Police Director Zoran Galić in a statement.
