Migrants found in a facility in Stupsko Brdo

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, February 28 (FENA) - Inspectors of the Foreigners’ Affairs Service and police officers of the Police Directorate of the SC Ministry of Interior found, in a joint action, 154 migrants staying at a residential building in the Stupsko Brdo location, whose owner does not have a license to provide services accommodation.

“The migrants were taken to reception centers for processing and determining their residence status, since they did not have identification documents with them,” stated the Foreigners’ Affairs Service.

Particular emphasis of control was on finding persons who could be linked to criminal offenses committed in the Sarajevo Canton.

Medical teams at the reception centers will determine their health condition given that some of them were injured.

Joint activities of the Foreigners’ Affairs Service and officers of the Police Directorate of the SC MoI aim at preventing and sanctioning the illegal behavior of migrants, finding persons in makeshift accommodation facilities not intended for this purpose, especially in the urban area of Sarajevo.

Foreigners’ Affairs Service calls on citizens to report illegal accommodation for migrants, as this can affect the security situation and the risk of infectious diseases.
