BANJA LUKA, February 23 (FENA) - President of the Party of Democratic Progress (PDP) Branislav Borenović believes that the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) has humiliated the RS National Assembly, excluding it from the election of judges of the Constitutional Court of BiH from RS.
He confirmed that the proposal of the SNSD is not acceptable to PDP, according to which the Presidency of BiH and the House of Peoples of the Parliament of BiH would appoint three domestic, instead of foreign, judges in the Constitutional Court of BiH, on which the SDS-PDP Caucus in the House of Representatives of BiH officially informed them.
In a statement to reporters in Banja Luka, Borenović said that the SNSD was thus not only humiliating the RS National Assembly, but also the RS president, who in the past years had submitted to Parliament a list of names of candidates from the RS for judges of the BiH Constitutional Court.
“Therefore this solution, presented before the recent special session of the entity parliament, was acceptable to us, but the question is what happened after a few days the SNSD changed its mind and 'deleted' the RS National Assembly from the decision making process for judges of the Constitutional Court of BiH and puts the Presidency and the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament instead,” he said.
He believes that it is quite legitimate for the RS judges of the BiH Constitutional Court court to be elected in the RS parliament.
He stressed that instead of foreign judges, domestic judges should be represented in the Constitutional Court of BiH, but not those coming from the top political parties, the SNSD, the SDA or the PDP.
“We need professionals who are not part of politics and will work in accordance with legal procedures and constitutional principles,” said Borenović.
He reiterated the PDP's stance that it would defend the interests of the RS in accordance with constitutional jurisdiction, including property and agricultural land, but would criticize any adventures and events that could destroy the RS and that everyone should insist on the Dayton principles of functioning of BiH.
Coalition partners at the BiH level are SNSD, SDA, HDZ, DF, SBB and they are in power. They formed the Council of Ministers, appointed all parliamentary committees, signed principles for forming the government, passed the Reform Program, have the support of foreigners, media ... They asked for all this and they got it, they have the power, we are the opposition and they no longer have the right to make excuses but to take responsibility for the situation in the country,” said Borenović.
