GORAŽDE, February 7 (FENA) - The United States Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Eric Nelson visited Goražde on Friday and met with Goražde Mayor Muhamed Ramović and municipal mayors of Novo Goražde and Rudo Milo Petković and Rato Rajak.
Ambassador Nelson has been informed about the situation in these local communities and their mutual cooperation.
He described the talks on ways and opportunities for improvement of cooperation, with an emphasis on the needs of the citizens, as extremely successful.
“We talked about how to improve the business climate, and most importantly, how to work between different ethnic groups, how to improve cooperation across inter-entity lines of demarcation, to improve conditions for all the citizens.
Now in 2020, we see a great example of the willingness of these mayors for cooperation between different ethnic groups and between the two entities,” said the US Ambassador to BiH.
Mayor of Rudo, Rato Rajak emphasized that today's meeting was interesting and that these local communities could serve as a positive example.
“The ambassador had the best intentions with coming here to visit and getting to now the life of the whole of BiH, the one in neglected areas, not just the one that takes place in Sarajevo or Banja Luka,” Rajak said.
Goražde Mayor Muhamed Ramović thanked for all that the United States has done for Bosnia and Herzegovina during the war, in the post-war period, as well as in the period of transition and reform, as well as USAID's assistance in implementing important projects.
“In the end, we concluded that a particularly important segment for our development lies in tourism, which is not represented at all. Ambassador Nelson expressed willingness to assist us in all these projects and shared with information on USAID projects to which we can apply and where we would have some priority,” said Mayor Ramović.
The US Ambassador Eric Nelson also used this visit to tour the church in Donja Sopotnica and the production plant of the Prevent Company.
