SARAJEVO, January 27 (FENA) - BiH Central Election Commission organized today together with TAIEX (Technical Assistance and Information Exchange is a European Commission instrument for technical support and information sharing, that is, to provide short-term technical assistance to new Member States and countries in the process of accession to the European Union in the areas of transposing EU legislation and its implementation into the domestic legal system) a two-day workshop on financing political parties in Sarajevo - past experiences and next steps.
Experts from the Venice Commission and GRECO, as well as experts from EU countries of the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Slovenia, representatives of the Central Election Commission of BiH and the Prosecutor's Office of BiH will talk about the system of audit of financing political parties in EU countries and the recommendations of GRECO (The Group of EU States against Corruption).
During this two-day workshop, Bosnia and Herzegovina will receive EU expertise on political party funding. The idea is to first assess the current situation in BiH and then share best EU standards and practices with participants. BiH institutions want guidance on the next steps they need to take to best align their standards with EU standards. BiH also wants to follow GRECO's recommendations.
Workshop participants include representatives of the Court of BiH, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, the BiH Ministry of Security, the BiH Ministry of Finance, the Audit Office of the BiH Institutions, the Directorate for European Integration of BiH, the EU Delegation to BiH, the OHR, the OSCE Mission to BiH, USAID, The Center for Civic Initiatives, Transparency International BiH, the Center for Investigative Reporting, municipal / city administrations and political parties in BiH, PR Office of the BiH CEC stated.
