SARAJEVO, January 2 (FENA) - Speaker of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly Denis Zvizdić extended congratulations to Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Croatia Gordan Jandroković and Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković on taking over the presidency of the Council of the European Union.
“I congratulate you on the six-month presidency of the Council of the European Union, which we, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, see as a period of strong reaffirmation of the importance of the project of enlargement of the European Union to the Western Balkans, which in strategic, geographical, historical and cultural terms belongs to the family of European countries,” said Zvizdić.
He said that one of BiH's two key foreign policy goals is full EU membership. This, with NATO integration, is a priority that has no alternative and that BiH needs to ensure lasting peace, long-term stability and economic prosperity. Bosnia and Herzegovina has been and wants to remain a visible and reliable partner in the processes of Euro-Atlantic integration and peace and stability creation in regional and international contexts.
Bearing in mind that Bosnia and Herzegovina has made significant strides in the path of European integration over the past few years and expects that during the Croatian EU Presidency, Bosnia's European orientation and progress towards European integration will be properly promoted, and that it ultimately results in gaining EU candidate status.
“This would be the best and most concrete message and support for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the expected common European future, both for BiH and for the whole region,” said Zvizdić in a congratulatory message, PR Office of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly announced.
