SARAJEVO, December 5 (FENA) - The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has an important role in Bosnia and Herzegovina today in the context of numerous security challenges, Zoran Tegeltija said today, whose appointment as Chairman of the Council of Ministers should be confirmed at an emergency session of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly.

He stressed that serious security challenges that have not avoided Bosnia and Herzegovina, such as the migrant crisis, radicalism and terrorism, it is necessary to develop cooperation with everyone.

He added that cooperation should be carried out in accordance with constitutional and legal solutions, but also in accordance with the will and commitment of its constituent peoples.

“BiH should develop its relations with NATO in accordance with its own interests and needs, starting from the "BiH Reform Program", as a basic document which defines the framework for further development of relations between the two sides,” Tegeltija emphasized.

He assessed that BiH must develop cooperation with everyone, but in accordance with the will and commitment of its constituent peoples, and only those activities, whether internal or external, that are based on the agreement and consent of everyone in BiH have a chance for success, for benefit of all its citizens.

“Only in this way will BiH establish itself as a community of equal peoples. We cannot afford that issues on which there is no agreement in BiH dominate our lives,” Tegeltija pointed out.

He announced the adoption of the revised Law on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) and the Law on Courts in BiH in line with European standards, implementation of measures in the area of criminal procedure outlined in the HJPC Action Plan and adoption of the revised War Crimes Strategy.

In the field of anti-corruption, Tegeltija said that the implementation of anti-corruption strategies and action plans will be ensured, especially through the provision of adequate resources and the establishment of monitoring mechanisms.

In the field of security, the Council of Ministers would improve its counter-terrorism capacity through better cooperation and coordination, by strengthening data sharing and by establishing programs to prevent radicalization.

He stressed that the new convocation of the Council of Ministers will work to improve the institutional and legislative framework and to strengthen capacity, in order to strengthen the prevention and fight against corruption, organized crime, including money laundering and terrorism.
