Citizens protest over treatment of residents at Pazarić Institution

SARAJEVO, November 21 (FENA) - Around one hundred citizens gathered in protest in front of a building where the FBiH Government is based in Sarajevo after yesterday's information on developments in the Pazarić Institution for the care of mentally disabled children and youth.

Protests have been going on peacefully so far. The reason for this protest is the outrage over yesterday's shocking information on the treatment of residents in the Pazarić Institution.

The reason for this public outcry is a statement by "Naša stranka" (Our Party) MP in the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament, Sabina Ćudić, who said that the institution is subject to inhumane treatment conditions for residents, especially sick children. She showed footage of some of the children being tied to furniture and radiators. Sabina Ćudić blamed the previous management of the institution, as well as Supervisory Board and Steering Board of the institution of which some members are still in positions, for insufficient staff and nonprofessional capacity of the Institution.
