Osmanović: SNSD refuses strengthening of SIPA's anti-terrorism sector

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, November 4 (FENA) - The US State Department report very accurately and thoroughly analyzes BiH's firm commitment and significant contribution to the fight against terrorism, it is said in a statement of the Chairman of the SDA Caucus in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Adil Osmanović.

It is extremely important, Osmanović points out, that, among other things, the report highlighted the contribution of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, which adopted amendments to the Criminal Code, increasing penalties for terrorist offenses.

It is also significant that the State Department drew attention to the shortage of SIPA staff in charge for combating terrorism, as well as the fact that the process of increasing from 25 to 50 SIPA members in the anti-terrorism sector was halted due to blocking of Parliament's work. In particular, a draft law addressing the issue is in the process and can only be adopted if Parliament is working.

"Bearing in mind the process of returning BiH citizens from foreign fronts (Iraq, Syria, Ukraine), it is of great importance for this issue that the BiH Parliament adopts the necessary solutions to increase SIPA's anti-terrorist capacity. Parliamentarians refusing to vote in favor of strengthening SIPA's anti-terrorism sector are in fact dangerously playing with the security of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. First of all, this refers to the SNSD, which is persistently blocking the work of the highest legislative body in the country, causing enormous financial damage and now jeopardizing citizens' safety," Osmanović said in a statement from SDA.
