BIHAĆ, October 15 (FENA) - Police in the Una-Sana Canton (USC) have begun relocating migrants and refugees who are currently illegally accommodated to a temporary reception center in Vučjak. A large number of police officers have been engaged in this task, and everyone without legal accommodation, who have resided in public areas and in abandoned buildings, will be transferred to Vučjak.

“This is actually the implementation of the decision of the Operational task force on migrant crisis coordination in the Una-Sana Canton, with the aim of improving the security and health situation in this part of BiH. Our focus is prevention of all those negative activities that have been happening in the canton lately, i.e. committing crimes, vagrancy and begging,” said spokesperson of the Una-Sana Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs Ale Šiljdedić.

It was emphasized that this was not about restricting freedom of movement, but enabling the normal life of all residents in this canton.

“We simply relocate people without adequate accommodation to a temporary camp, where they will be provided with basic necessities of life. Of course, migrants and refugees already accommodated in reception camps here will have to respect some kind of home rules, as they do everywhere in the world. I must emphasize that the control of the USC citizens who transport illegal migrants has also been intensified,” Šiljdedić added.

All the burden of reception and care of migrants and refugees in the temporary reception center in Vučjak has fallen on the Una-Sana Canton and Red Cross Bihać.
