SARAJEVO, September 25 (FENA) - Business forum and meetings of BiH and Kingdom of Saudi Arabian businessmen, held today at BiH Foreign Trade Chamber (VTK BiH) in Sarajevo, are an opportunity to enhance trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Co-Chairmen of the BiH-KSA Business Council Ahmet Egrlić and Khalid Othman stated before the forum that they would seek to overcome possible obstacles to this cooperation through this joint council and improve business.
Last year, we had a foreign trade exchange of about 90 million KM, of which two million was import, while we exported 88 million KM. I think our countries have far greater potential for cooperation. It is the interest of VTK and business community of BiH to enter the Saudi Arabian market more than it was in the past, to open doors of consumer goods market from BiH, and we will be working on that,” said Egrlić.
Currently, our export to Saudi Arabia is dominated by dedicated military industry, but, as Egrlić said, there are other branches of the economy that can enter that market.
“The fact that 72 percent of our total exports go to EU countries says that we have highly sophisticated products competing in the European market, so I think they can be exported to Saudi Arabian market as well,” added Egrlić.
Co-Chairman of the BiH-KSA Business Council Khalid Othman emphasized their commitment to develop economic relations as much as possible.
He added that in the previous period many investments from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in BiH were recorded in various fields.
“We aim to make our investments more diverse and into different sectors in BiH in the future in order to develop trade, industrial, tourism and other sectors, and to increase trade and business cooperation,” said Othman.
Livno dairy has not placed its products to this market so far, but this forum, as the representative of that dairy Zdravko Markov said, is an opportunity to see possibilities for their products to go to the Saudi market after Europe, Turkey, USA, Australia.
During the business forum, presentations of business in BiH and Saudi Arabia are planned followed by business meetings between BiH and Saudi businessmen.
