United States Embassy fully supports the announced Pride March in Sarajevo

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, September 4 (FENA) - The United States Embassy in BiH fully supports the first BiH Pride March, scheduled for Sunday in Sarajevo, with Ambassador Eric Nelson announcing that he will participate in the March.

“Equal human rights for all – that is the essence of BiH Pride March. By joining the march you are giving support to the members of the LGBTI community, as well as members of other minority groups and vulnerable population, who deserve to have the same rights and freedoms as everyone else,” Ambassador Eric Nelson said in a statement sent via social media.

Nelson also said that this is an opportunity for Bosnia and Herzegovina - which strives to be an open, multicultural country that respects the rights of all individuals - to show tolerance and respect for diversity.

“We fully support the first BiH Pride March, its organizers, and citizens who choose to participate. We expect that public officials, institutions and citizens make sure that this event takes place in a peaceful and dignified manner,” Ambassador Nelson concluded.
