GRADAČAC, September 1 (FENA) - Gradačac Mayor Edis Dervišagić says the International Plum Fair is a very important economic event as the town of Gradačac itself grew together with it.

What is particularly significant, as Dervišagić told FENA, is that the fair has a special segment, the educational part, which in the past period has influenced the development of modern agricultural production in the municipality.

"Gradačac is the leader in the application of modern agricultural and technical measures, and the quality and quantity of agricultural products in this area confirm this. I believe that the fair will gradually increase its level in the coming years and that Gradačac, as an economic zone, and in this agricultural aspect, will be a model for other municipalities and cities, both in Tuzla Canton and the whole of BiH," pointed out Dervišagić.

The mayor also noted that the area of Gradačac has many agricultural and fruit plantations that are protected by the anti-hail network. On the other hand, this is one of the few places in the Federation of BiH where the entire area of Gradačac is covered by anti-hail protection.

Dervišagić stressed the need for more significant and concrete support from higher levels of government when it comes to agricultural incentives and certain subsidies regarding the placement of exports of products in this area.

This year's 46th International Plum and Agriculture Fair in Gradačac gathered 315 exhibitors from Bosnia and Herzegovina, countries from the region and the European Union.
