HADŽIĆI, August 1 (FENA) - An emergency meeting of the Sarajevo Canton Coordination Team on Migrants with the Mayor of Hadžići and other participants, was held in connection with the migrant crisis at which it was concluded that the greatest burden fell on the Hadžići Municipality.
The processing of migrants and refugees is difficult due to lack of documents, so it is necessary to make additional cooperation with prosecutors' offices, the meeting concluded.
Regarding health, the need for institutional monitoring of the hygienic-epidemiological condition at the Ušivak reception center was expressed. In the event of an escalation of the number of migrants, there would be a greater need for food and the inventory of goods reserves of the Sarajevo Canton should be done.
The Hadžići Center for Social Services expressed the need for another lawyer who would be engaged in childcare of minors without parental care and escort. Concerning public transportation, bus lines connecting the Hadžići municipality with the city center should be strengthened, it was concluded.
An emergency meeting of the Sarajevo Canton Migrant Coordination Team with the Mayor of Hadžići, representatives of the Office for Foreigners and representatives of the International Organization for Migrants (IOM) of BiH was held yesterday afternoon in Hadžići. The only item on the agenda was the increased influx of migrants, with a focus on that municipality.
“We will do all the things that Sarajevo Canton can do to help the Hadžići municipality, which is suffering by far the most pressure. For this reason, this meeting was organized. First of all, I would like to thank the Mayor of Hadžići and all the residents especially for approaching this problem in a very humane way, although the nature of the crisis has the most consequences,” said Sarajevo Canton Minister Malik Garibija.
Cantonal Prime Minister Edin Forto said the cantonal authorities would pay special attention to Hadžići municipality and do their best to alleviate this situation. However, this will not solve the problem of the migrant crisis.
“I believe that if a decision was made at the level of the Council of Ministers of BiH and a clear command was issued on the construction of reception centers in other locations outside Sarajevo Canton, the situation would be much different,” Forto says.
