BIHAĆ, June 9 (FENA) - At today's meeting of representatives of the cantonal authorities, local communities, the police and the International Organization for Migration, announced the introduction of the Rules of the House in temporary migrant centers in the Una-Sana Canton area, i.e., the regulation of the movement of migrants and refugees in Bihać, Cazin and Velika Kladuša.

"The reason for the introduction of the Rules is the security situation in the canton, and we will do this in cooperation with IOM and UNHCR.

We will deploy all available police officers, and if need be, we will also seek help from other police agencies. We will also seek help from them to stop the immense pressure of migrants and refugees on this part of BiH," said the police commissioner Mujo Koričić.

He pointed out that a state of emergency would not be declared, but that several more measures would be taken immediately to improve the safety and health situation in the canton.

We will try to find a way to prosecute offenders who have no documents, especially due to increasingly frequent and brutal mutual physical conflicts in Bihać and Velika Kladuša, said the commissioner.

"Migrants who currently have no accommodation will be transported to Vučijak ina few days. We are already starting with the preparation of medical teams, in order to provide healthcare at a new location, while the Red Cross of the City and the cantonal organization will provide the necessary minimum living conditions.

Therefore, we start moving the migrants and refugees from the center of the city. We will rigorously strengthen the control and sanctioning of our citizens who rent private housing for people without documents," said USC Prime Minister Mustafa Ružnić.

Bihać Mayor Šuhret Fazlić stressed that the European Union does not support the choice of a new location, but that we must act urgently, even if it is only a temporary solution.

"They do not support our decision on Vučijak, probably due to the proximity of the border with the Republic of Croatia. However, we must do something because we cannot allow migrants to occupy public areas in the city center. The latest incidents are not at all naive and harmless and I must first think about every aspect of the safety of Bihać citizens. Perhaps, this decision will cause a negative reaction in the residents of the surrounding settlements, which I also understand. So far, it has become clear to us that it is futile to seek or expect help from the political leaders of this country, therefore we are taking all the available measures at our disposal," said Fazlić.

It was also confirmed that most of the registered migrants in BiH have arrived in the area of Bihać and Velika Kladuša.

"More than nine thousand registered migrants entered BiH in January. Almost all of them have come or plan to come to the area of Bihać or Velika Kladuša, because they consider it to be the most suitable route to reach the countries of Western Europe.

This is a serious problem and will not go away that quickly, so it is really time for some concrete strategic decisions of the Council of Ministers of BiH. I must point out the great efforts of the cantonal and local authorities, especially the local police and firefighters. The question is, what kind of a situation we would have if it were not for their maximum engagement," said the Head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in BiH, Peter van der Auweraert.

Participants of the meeting once again issued an appeal to the competent state institution also when it comes to the transport of persons without documents through Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially via Talgo train of the Railways of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which only this year transported about ten thousand migrants and refugees in Bihać.
