Dodik: We have undisputed consensus over the EU path of BiH (VIDEO)

SARAJEVO, March 6 (FENA) - President of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) Milorad Dodik said after a meeting with leaders of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) Bakir Izetbegović and the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ) Dragan Čović that they had a constructive meeting, and that he feels they could reach an agreement on appointing a PM designate in the next seven to ten days, and establish the entire Council of Ministers by the end of the month.

Dodik said that this was very important as to send out a message to European institutions and European countries “regarding what is the priority for everyone here and what the topic is that we have no problems with in terms of different attitudes, which is the EU path of BiH.”

“I believe that the consensus that exists with regard to the EU path is undisputed, as well as regarding the coordination mechanism provided that the mechanism gives us modalities for resolving the issues, and providing unified responses from BiH,” Dodik said.

“There is no dispute on the decision that the CoM chairman should be from the Serb people, the candidate we have already mentioned. We have a deadlock here because of the issue of the MAP as it has been raised as a question that precedes the establishment of the BiH Council of Ministers. The entity of Republika Srpska, both the government and the opposition, promote and fight for military neutrality, while the fact is that HDZ and SDA and everyone in the Federation of BiH think the country should join NATO. This is the issue we cannot agree upon for a number of reasons that I do not want to discuss right now,” said the SNSD leader.

But, at the same time, he considers it very rational and realistic to understand that this issue will not disappear "just because we in RS believe we should choose a different path."

“I want to say that this conditioning is absolutely irrational. But several principles on which the activities of the Council of Ministers of BiH can be based on are certainly the constitution, rule of law, socio-economic reforms, the EU path, respect for what has been agreed in BiH in terms of the construction of the motorways network," Dodik said.

He said that there is an agreement in the Presidency of BiH, noting that yesterday there was a misunderstanding, "but in fact I made a mistake because I said that Džaferović is waiting for some consultation on the decision about the roaming prices agreement."

“In accordance with the decision of the Presidency, Bosnia and Herzegovina will sign the Regional Regulatory Agreement on Roaming on October 5 this year, which allows us to have 80% cheaper roaming with all countries in the region, and in early 2021, roaming prices will be reduced by 80% with EU member states and for us to get in a position to have the same roaming prices as it is within the EU countries,” explained Dodik.

“I want to thank Željko Komšić and Šefik Džaferović for the fact that they, as members of the BiH Presidency made an effort and we will send a very good message,” said Dodik.

He noted that the leaders of SDA, HDZ and SNSD agreed today to lay down several principles of action, namely the constitutionality, legality, reforms, the EU path…

“These are the principles on which we will work. I believe that we can also agree on the distribution of the ministerial sectors and that this should not be a problem when we adopt these principles. What certainly will not happen is for Zoran Tegeltija to be named as PM designate and that his candidacy is then dragged on in the media, but that nothing happens in the end. Therefore, the entire deal must exist. No games in this respect will be allowed,” Dodik said.

He says he understands that the decision of RS on military neutrality is not a definitive one in terms of the position of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but "it is a result of the agreement of both the government and the opposition, backed by a decision of the RS parliament and it is binding for all of us."

Answering journalists’ questions regarding the formation of power, Dodik noted that everyone is familiar with the political system in BiH, that it is based on the equal representation of the two entities and the three constituent peoples.

“We understand the position of Bakir Izetbegović in the sense of strengthening the position of the Bosniaks, or as they call it, the Bosnian Bloc, but I want to say that the Serbs and the Croats have completed their job. We understand the need, and it suits us that, as far as the Bosniak people are concerned, there is a widest possible pool of political representatives gathered. But I think it's high time to finish the job. It should be said that Bakir Izetbegović has the capacity to make a decision regarding the establishment of the BiH Council of Ministers without these other political representatives,” concluded Dodik.
