FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, February 26 (FENA) - General Manager of Elektroprivreda BiH (EPBiH) Bajazit Jašarević and Executive Director for Capital Investments Senad Salkić today in Sarajevo signed the Agreement on design, delivery of equipment, construction works, assembly, testing and commissioning of the 15 wind turbines of the "Podveležje" wind farm, with representatives of the Siemens Gamesa Consortium (Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy Ltd. Croatia and Siemens Wind Power A/S Denmark ), with the total installed capacity of 48 MW, and an agreement on five-year-long maintenance of wind turbines (LTSA) after the commissioning of the wind farm.

On behalf of the consortium of Siemens Gamesa the agreement was signed by Viktor Ivanov Garbev, CEO of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy Ltd.Croatia, which is the leader of the Consortium and Mario Marčan, a member of the Management Board.

The signing of the agreement was also attended by Christian Sedat, Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in BiH, who expressed the support of Germany for the development projects in the energy sector.

“Podveležje is not only the first wind farm of Elektroprivreda BiH, but it is also one of the first in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Federal Government of Germany and KfW (German Development Bank) are proud to be funding and providing advisory experience in this pioneering project in BiH,” Sedat said.

The deadline for the implementation of the first agreement is 21.5 months, while the deadline for the implementation of the LTSA agreement is five years from the moment of commissioning of the wind farm.

The value of both agreements is about 69 million euros, including the cost of providing securities for the return of credit funds (securing ECA guarantees).

The wind farm is financed by the German Development Bank's loan fund and own funds of Elektroprivreda BiH.

The project is located on the plateau of Podveležje, about 10 kilometers east of the City of Mostar. The construction of the wind farm will significantly increase the share of electricity generation from renewable energy sources at Elektroprivreda BiH. The expected annual production is around 130 GWh.

For this project, Elektroprivreda BiH signed a concession agreement with the Government of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton for a period of 30 years, stated the Communication Department of Elektroprivreda BiH.
