In a setup of a bipolar international order in which the two great powers ruled the world, in 1979, the people stood up against the vassal of one of these two superpowers, relying on the power of self-sacrifice and unity, managing to be victorious and bringing down such a regime.

On this occasion, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mahmoud Heidari, in an interview with FENA, reminded that a revolution that was launched relieved the state of dependence on foreign centers and a new political system was established that set the foundations for the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“The Islamic Revolution is an important milestone in the history of Iran, and the National Day of the Islamic Republic of Iran is also a reminder of the anniversary of the victory of one of the truly people-born twentieth-century revolutions,” said Heidari.

Over the past forty years, the Iranian people have managed to overcome all the problems and overcome the challenges, renovate the ruins after the imposed eight-year war, mitigate the consequences of unjust sanctions and achieve excellent results in many fields.

Heidari recalls that the revolution has brought full political independence. The country has achieved a high level of security, scientific progress, and development in human, scientific, health, subspecialist, university and research fields and in the area of modern technologies.

Over the past 40 years, the people voted in 12 presidential and 10 parliamentary elections, five elections for the Council of Religious Experts, and five elections for city and village councils, as well as several referendums through which decisions were made on important issues such as the adoption of the Constitution.

This country has played a significant role in many areas at regional level as well, the role that has been taken in achieving successes in processes such as the establishment of new universities, the construction of hospitals, and scientific and technological development.

“Today, taking steady steps forward and with 40 years of experience, we continue to develop infrastructure potentials in the fields of oil industry, transport and communications, agriculture and various branches of industry” said the Ambassador.

Iran is experiencing a developmental bloom in the fields of health and education, science and technology, social security and scientific research, and credible international institutions testify that scientific development in Iran is 11 times higher than the world average.

The Ambassador of Iran to BiH also spoke about the role of his country in the sensitive and crisis region of the Middle East, stressing that Iran does not give up on the politics of moderate approach, noting Iran’s support for the Iraqi and Syrian people in the fight against terrorism.

Nevertheless, he warned that terrorism is not only a threat to the region but the whole world, and they expect the world to learn lessons and decisively stand up and fight against terrorism and the factors that influence the rise of this phenomenon, but also to refrain from dual standards and dividing terrorism into good and bad terrorism.

He stressed that Iran openly advocates for the Middle East without nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction and that they have been pursuing this idea for 40 years, because it is a nation that insists on friendly and human relations with all nations, and especially with its neighbors.

"We can solve all problems without bloodshed and without radicalism and extremism in the region," said the Ambassador, reminding that Iran has very clearly shown that he it is committed to respecting its international obligations.

Heidri added that Iran's nuclear agreement with six major world powers is a clear example of Iran's commitment to this goal over the past few years, and all official reports of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have confirmed that Iran has not violated any of its commitments.

He says that the United States US has "illegally withdrawn from this agreement and thus caused problems for the Iranian people, the nations in the region, Iranian partners, regional and international economies and trade companies, and even to their own businesses."

“We are certain that the road chosen by the US does not lead anywhere and that, by no means, they will achieve their illegitimate goals,” underlined the Iranian Ambassador to BiH.

Given that the European Union has maintained its commitment to the agreement, Heidari recalled that Iran did not use the economic benefits guaranteed by the agreement, but has called on the EU to fulfill its commitments towards Iran with the intent of defending the Nuclear Deal Framework.

Iranian Ambassador Heidari, in this interview, also referred to bilateral relations between BiH and Iran, reminding that this country recognized the independence of BiH among the first states and put the development of political, economic and cultural cooperation in the focus of action.

He assessed that cooperation has been developing with satisfactory intensity in the last 27 years, with numerous visits by BiH officials to Iran and Iranian officials’ visits to BiH, which confirms honest and good cooperation at various political and parliamentary levels.

When it comes to other forms of cooperation, the Ambassador emphasized the fact that the people of Iran and BiH are connected by numerous cultural, linguistic and traditional ties, such as a large number of Persian manuscripts in Bosnian libraries, the study of the Persian language, and a substantial part of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian literature that was written in the Persian language.

Based on all of the above, the Agreement on Cultural, Scientific and Research Cooperation between the two countries and the twinning of Tehran and Sarajevo was signed, and Heidari announced that cultural programs of Iran will soon be held in Sarajevo and Tuzla.

Speaking about economic cooperation, he noted that BiH businesses can enter the Asian market through Iran, and Iranian business people through Bosnia and Herzegovina can establish communication with the EU market.

“However, the economic potential of the two countries are significantly higher than the current scope of our cooperation. Our two countries must use the opportunities for expanding economic cooperation, especially in the fields of energy, petrochemicals, minerals, agriculture, food and other industries,” believes Heidari.

He reminded that the laws on the development of foreign investments and the support to foreign investors have enabled numerous benefits for investing in Iran, and have removed earlier restrictions, and that you can freely establish a foreign company in Iran with one hundred percent foreign capital, including transactions of investment funds and equity profit.

“We must ensure the creation of a favorable climate for the smooth functioning of the real sector and banking cooperation, and remove barriers and adopt facilities for the flow of money of businesses between the two countries,” said Heidari, believing that with enough of good will, all potentials for development can be fully realized.

Speaking about expanding cooperation between Iran and BiH, Heidari singled out tourism industry, but noted it is necessary to adopt certain facilities and simplification of procedures for tourist trips, and called on citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina to visit Iran, which is abundant in tourist attractions and to see for themselves the beauties of the country and the hospitality of the Iranian people.
