FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, February 5 (FENA) - Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Minister of Finance and Treasury Vjekoslav Bevanda today met with the United Nations Resident Coordinator (UN) in BiH, Sezin Sinanoglu.

Given that Minister Bevanda is also a co-chair of the Joint Managing Board of the UN and BiH, the participants agreed that the meeting should be organized soon because many goals have been successfully met, but not all activities have yet been completed.

Bearing in mind that the reform are under way in the UN’s organization, Sezin Sinanoglu informed Minister Bevanda that she will no longer be at the helm of UNDP, but will remain involved in all projects as a UN Resident Coordinator.

They also discussed the problem of migrant families, and as a special problem Sinanoglu highlighted the stay of underage children without parental care and the legal status of migrants in BiH.

She emphasized that the UN has good cooperation with the institutions directly responsible for migration issues, but that the problem of illegal migration is a problem of the whole society, and that the cumulative data from all the institutions on the status and movement of migrants in BiH are published on a monthly basis.

Minister Bevanda emphasized that the UN, as well as UNDP, is an extremely important partner and donor in BiH and thanked for the support that they provided through numerous projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina, stated the Ministry of Finance and Treasury of BiH.
