SARAJEVO, October 23 (FENA) - The 25th anniversary of the murder of 38 Bosniak civilians on October 23, 1993, by members of the Croat Defense Council, was marked today by laying of flowers in Stupni Dol near Vareš.
Seventeen women, five children, as well as a number of older people, were killed in this massacre. Eleven people were burnt alive.
The youngest victim who was murdered was a two-year-old Sabina Likić.
Three-year-olds Indira Žutić and Enis Likić were also murdered, as well as 74-year-old Salih.
Members of the Croat Defense Council raided the village and burned 58 houses and a local mosque. The village was completely destroyed.
“Regardless of the fact that our sorrow has never passed because of this horrendous war crime, our hope for a better life, good neighborly relations and especially justice, is eternal.
We will not seek revenge because then we would then be the same as the criminals that committed this heinous war crime, but we will seek justice, especially justice for all the victims of Stupni Dol and Vareš,” said Prime Minister of the Zenica-Doboj Canton Miralem Galijašević.
