SARAJEVO, September 21 (FENA) - The opening ceremony of the luxury Swissotel Sarajevo, which began its operation in July this year, was held in Sarajevo last evening.
The hotel was built within the Sarajevo City Center and operates under the hotel corporation AccorHotels.
The opening ceremony was, among others, attended by the BiH Presidency Chairman Bakir Izetbegović, who pointed out that he remembered the first visit of Suleiman Al Shiddi to Sarajevo when such an investment seemed unbelievable.
“It was a post-war Sarajevo and soon the global economic crisis hit us, and Suleiman Al Shiddi sought support for the project, and such courage deserved every kind of support,” said Izetbegović.
He added that this building has become a landmark of Sarajevo, has enriched the tourism offer of the city in the 21st century.
The newly opened hotel is owned by the Al Shiddi Group, which entered into a franchise agreement with Swissotel, part of the AccorHotels group, in April this year.
Investor Suleiman Al Shiddi said that this project could not be brought to reality without the help of their team, shareholders, BiH authorities and all those who indirectly helped, so he expressed a lot of gratitude.
“This project has been designed to last 100 years or 200 years. I believe Sarajevo will become an attractive destination for tourists from China, the Middle East, and many other countries,” said Al Shiddi.
Swissotel Sarajevo has 218 luxurious rooms with panoramic view of the city center and the surrounding mountains.
It also has modern wellness and spa facilities as well as two restaurants, one of which will serve traditional Bosnian dishes fused with international and oriental cuisines.
