SARAJEVO, August 29 (FENA) - Representatives of the BiH Missing Persons Institute on the occasion of August 30 - International Day of Missing Persons, expressed hope that a significant number of people that are still registered as missing would be found, which will bring some peace to their families and for them to find their final resting place.

At today's press conference, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MPI BiH, Amor Mašović, pointed out that, in this regard, the Institute expects significant help, in personnel and financial, to end its mandate within a reasonable time frame.

“It is a deadline for families of 7,191 people to live to see the moment when, despite the sad fact that they have found one of their closest ones dead, they will relieve the burden of uncertainty. We hope that the new laboratory in The Hague will also give new results on the basis of the already existing data, without the need to collect additional data,” said Mašović.

Amir Kulaglić, member of the Advisory Board of the Institute, lost all the male members of his family in the genocide in Srebrenica.

He is still searching for three male members. Finding them and giving them a dignified burial means a lot to him.

Chairperson of the Institute Governing Board Jadranka Duraković said that they are preparing the central records of missing persons for publication (on the Institute web site), which is especially important for the families of the missing.

The Missing Persons Institute will participate, on the International Day of Missing Persons, together with the International Committee of the Red Cross, in a campaign that will be held at Children's Square in Sarajevo.
