FENA

SARAJEVO, July 8 (FENA) - Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Bosnia and Herzegovina Chen Bo rated the recently concluded Summit of the Prime Ministers of the 16 + 1 countries in Sofia as another success of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the segment of bilateral cooperation with the People's Republic of China and multilateral one within the format of the 16 countries of the Central and Eastern Europe.

The BiH delegation at a summit in Sofia was led by Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić, who met with Prime Minister of China Li Keqiang.

Ambassador of PR China in BH emphasizes that every summit and bilateral meeting is an opportunity for developing relations between China and BiH, as well as an opportunity to improve cooperation in all areas.

“The Prime Minister's 16 + 1 summit in Budapest was marked with the Visa Waiver Agreement for holders of ordinary passports between the Government of China and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture between the competent institutions of the two countries, as well as the loan agreement for the Block 7 of the TPP in Tuzla. We are pleased to note that in the past eight months since the Summit in Budapest, the visa abolition agreement came into force and has been efficient in promoting cooperation in tourism and various other areas. The two countries have launched negotiations and signed an agreement on cooperation in civil aviation, which will create the preconditions for opening a direct airlink between China and BiH.

The loan agreement and the guarantees agreement for the Block 7 of the TPP in Tuzla have been recently confirmed at a session of the FBiH Government.

It is expected that the construction will begin in near future. The two sides have begun a procedure related to the issuance of licenses to export milk products from BiH to the Chinese market,” said Ambassador Chen Bo in an interview with FENA.

At the 16 + 1 Summit in Sofia, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Mirko Šarović and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, Han Changfu signed the Agreement on animal health and quarantine between the two governments.

The agreement will enable cooperation and communication between the two sides in the area of animal quarantine and will create better conditions for trade in animal products between China and BiH.

The companies of the two countries that participated in the Business Forum within the Summit signed two agreements on road infrastructure cooperation with a total value of 2 billion KM. The first agreement is on the construction of the Banja Luka-Prijedor-Novi Grad motorway in RS, under the concession model. Ambassador of PR China in BiH said that this motorway will be the first project of road infrastructure between the two countries.

“In relation to the previous cooperation in large energy projects, this project is a significant shift in the models of cooperation, and a Chinese company will become a direct investor in its implementation. At the same time, this motorway is the first project in the transport infrastructure under the concession model and within the 16 + 1 initiative,” she pointed out.

The second agreement signed is on the construction of the Vukosavlje-Doboj motorway and its Vukosavlje-Brčko section, in which the Chinese company will also participate as a direct investor. Immediately after the Summit, the ambassador announced that Huawei will sign a commercial agreement with BH Telekom on the introduction of the 4G network.

“During the Summit in Sofia, BiH has proposed to organize the 16 + 1 Winter Sports Festival for university students in 2019. I believe that this will help increase the exchange of young people from China and 16 countries of Central and Eastern Europe, introduce winter sports as a new area of cooperation within 16 + 1 and strengthen the cooperation between China and BiH in winter tourism.

Over the past three years, large number of Chinese companies participated in the Mostar Fair, and two events from 16 + 1 initiative were organized within the Fair. These are the Agricultural Products and 16 + 1 Wine Fair, and the Agricultural Investment and Equipment Fair. Next year, China will participate in the Mostar Fair as a partner country, and this will be something very important for the business relations of China and BiH.

BiH will also host the next meeting of the Transport Ministers of 16 + 1 in 2019. All these initiatives from BiH were supported by all other countries and have been included in the 16 + 1 Guidelines from the Sofia Summit,” stressed Ambassador Chen Bo.

“I am glad that BiH has again become the winner of the Summit. The Chinese Embassy in Sarajevo will continue to work with our partners in BiH to promote cooperation between the two countries in all fields, to thoroughly implement all that has been agreed in Sofia, and find new measures of cooperation and ensure an even brighter future for relations between China and BiH,” said the Ambassador PR China in BiH Chen Bo.
