BiH Court confirms indictment in Omer Borić case for war crime in Konjic

SARAJEVO, June 21 (FENA) - On 12 June 2018, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed Indictment against the accused Omer Borić for the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity in violation of Article 172 paragraph 1 subparagraph (h) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina as read with subparagraphs (a), (e) and (f) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, all in conjunction with Article 180 paragraph 2 of the same Code.

According to the Indictment, in the time period between mid-May 1992 and early May 1993 or thereabouts, as part of a widespread or systematic attack of members of the Konjic Territorial Defense Municipal Staff (Op. ŠTO Konjic), i.e. the Army of R BiH, the Croatian Defense Council (HVO), the Croatian Armed Forces (HOS), the DIO-A-004 Sabotage-Reconnaissance Detachment called “Akrepi” with the Op. ŠTO Konjic, members of the Konjic Public Security Station (SJB), the Hadžići Territorial Defense and the Hadžići Public Security Station directed against the Serbian civilian population of Konjic Municipality (town of Konjic and the surrounding villages), with knowledge of that attack and that their acts constituted a part thereof, the accused Omer Borić, as Commander of the  Konjic Territorial Defense Municipal Staff (Op. ŠTO Konjic), in concert with Esad Ramić and Dinko Zebić (unavailable), planned, ordered, incited, aided - by act or omission - the persecution of Serbian civilian population on political, national, ethnic, cultural and religious grounds from the territory controlled by the Op.ŠTO Konjic, the HVO, the HOS, the DIO-A-004 Sabotage-Reconnaissance Detachment called “Akrepi” with the Op. ŠTO Konjic and members of the Konjic SJB, in violation of rules of international law, by way of murders, imprisonment or other severe deprivation of physical liberty, torture or other inhumane acts of a similar character with the intent to cause great suffering or serious injury to body or to physical or mental health, stated the BiH Court.
