'Under the Magnifier' records cases of premature election campaign

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, May 11 (FENA) - The coalition "Under the Magnifier" said that "before the announcement of the General Elections, obvious cases were recorded of premature election campaigns by political parties Our Party, Democratic Progress Party, Alliance of Independent Social Democrats, Union for a Better Future of BiH, the Social Democratic Party of BiH, the Socialist Party, the Serb Democratic Party and the Party of Democratic Action”.

In this context, this Coalition expressed regret that decision-makers did not find a compromise for adopting amendments to the BiH Election Law that would enable full implementation of election results.

“Citizens of BiH cannot be hostages of irresponsible policies and narrow interests of parties,” the Coalition states, and invites MPs and delegates of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly and political leaders to responsibly do the work for which they are paid with citizens' money and adopt the necessary amendments to the Election Law.

They also remind of the election rules and draw attention to the fact that any form of paid political advertising before the official start of the election campaign is prohibited.

Observers of the "Under the Magnifier" Coalition will monitor the work of BiH CEC and 143 local election commissions, and all activities envisaged in the election calendar including the certification of political subjects and candidate lists, the procedure of appointing and training the members of polling boards, election campaign, election day, and determination of election results.

“We also invite citizens to apply for observers’ positions and report any irregularities detected before the election day through the toll-free telephone number 080 05 05 05 or the website www.podlupom.org,” reads the statement of the “Under the Magnifier” Coalition, which began the long-term observation of the election process on the day of calling the 2018 General Election through seven regional offices and long-term observers.
