BRATUNAC, May 9 (FENA) – The 26th anniversary of the crime over 65 Bosniak civilians was marked today with laying of flowers at the memorial plaque and reciting of Al-Fatiha prayer in the Glogova community near Bratunac.

President of the Glogova community Mustafa Golić is the survivor of the Glogova attack, and today he recalled that an attack on the unarmed people began on May 9, 1992, and that the killing was carried out in three major stages.

“The first phase of the killing happened in front of the villagers' houses, and the second phase took place in the center of the village where the men were separated and murdered. The killers ordered that the bodies of the killed be carried by two inhabitants of Glogova towards the river. Those who carried the bodies did not return because they were murdered as well. My father, Šerif Golić, was in that group of murdered people, and I never found his remains,” Mr. Golić said.

According to him, the third phase of the shooting took place at the mosque where 25 people were killed, and there were children among them.

“On this day, 65 people were killed, including children. Four of us survived this - Ibrahim Delić, Šećo Delić, Mušan Talović and I. Only Mušan Talović and I are alive today. Ibrahim Delić passed away, while Šećo Delić was killed during the freeing of Glogova. Of the 65 killed, about 40 were found and buried, while 25 are still missing,” Mr. Golić says.

He emphasizes that this crime must not be forgotten and that, in addition to Miroslav Deronjić, who was convicted of this crime, other perpetrators must be held responsible as well.

A resident of Bratunac Rifet Ibišević says he has not forgotten that May 9, 1992. On this day, his relatives were killed, of the 65 killed, 26 of them were members of the Ibišević family.

“In the normal world, Europe is celebrating May 9, the Day of Victory over Fascism, and on that day the fascists came to Glogova to murder one people. We have not forgotten the crime, but we will do everything to bring normal life back to this place,” Mr. Ibišević said.

“Tomorrow we mark the deaths of Bosniaks in Suha and Tawhid will be recited for the 38 killed. On Friday we will visit the playground in Bratunac, the place from where our loved ones were taken away. Then we will throw 603 red roses that symbolize blood in the Drina River from the Ljubovija bridge. After that, we will visit a mass grave in Redžići from where 22 people, two women and 20 men were exhumed,” Šuhra Sinanović, President of “Women of Podrinje” Association from Bratunac, said.
