SARAJEVO, April 6 (FENA) - USAID's Independent Media Empowerment Program (IMEP) donated 620,000 USD to 23 media projects.
The grant-awarding ceremony was held at the Center for Civil Society Promotion (CCSP), and the agreements were signed by TV1, news website radiosarajevo.ba, magazine Start BiH, news websites impulsportal.net, avangarda.ba, buka.com/BukaTV, analysis.ba, žurnal.info, the CCSP stated.
Five partner projects also received grants, namely the Association 'Why not?' and Oslobođenje, the Center for Civic Cooperation and news website žurnal.info; Mediacentar, Investigative Journalism Center and website bljesak.info, Transparency International BiH and website capital.ba, Center for Freedom of the Press and Faktor magazine.
The Independent Media Empowerment Program is the program of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through which the media and journalists in BiH will be allocated a total of three million dollars until 2021 for production of independent media content as well as developing critical thinking.
IMEP additionally provides free legal protection to journalists and media organizations exposed to defamation, violent behavior or harassment.
This five-year USAID project is implemented by the Center for Civil Society Promotion in partnership with the Open Network.
