SARAJEVO, March 23 (FENA) - Slobodan Knežević, suspected of war crimes in the village of Miska Glava (Prijedor municipality), where 120 Bosniak civilians were killed in 1992, was extradited from Montenegro to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The BiH state court ordered Slobodan Knežević into custody on Friday after he was extradited from Montenegro, arguing that he might try to abscond or interfere with the proceedings by influencing witnesses and accomplices.
The BiH Prosecutor’s Office suspects Knežević of having participated in the arrest of around 120 Bosniak civilians in Miska Glava in the Prijedor municipality in July 1992. The civilians were allegedly held in detention before being shot in location Kipe-Ljubija.
Knežević is suspected of having shot dead one captured civilian before the mass killing of the detainees.
Nine other suspects have been charged with committing a crime against the captives in Miska Glava.
The BiH prosecution charged Slobodan Taranjac, Milodrag Glušac, Ranko Babić, Ranko Došenović and Rade Zekanović with ordering or failing to stop or punish the detention of civilians who were held in inhumane conditions in the Miska Glava culture house and tortured.
Zdravko Panić, Trivo Vukić, Milan Vukić and Marinko Praštalo were also charged with killing 11 men. Taranjac, Glušac, Babić and Došenović were charged with hiding this crime.
Taranjac was charged in his capacity as president of the Crisis Committee in the nearby town of Ljubija and head of the local civil authorities, Glušac as deputy commander of the Sixth Ljubija Battalion of the Bosnian Serb Army’s 43rd Brigade, Babić as first operative officer of the Sixth Ljubija Battalion, and Došenović as the battalion’s assistant commander for security.
The others are charged as members of the Bosnian Serb Army’s Miskoglavska Company and the military and civil police, BIRN BiH reported.
