SARAJEVO, March 18 (FENA) – Prime Minister of FBiH Fadil Novalić stated at a meeting he had with Minister for European Affairs of Great Britain Alan Duncan, British Ambassador Edward Ferguson and Prime Minister of RS Željka Cvijanović in Sarajevo yesterday that support from Great Britain within the British-German Initiative is highly important for Government of the Federation of BiH and he thanked for specific approach of Great Britain.

“Support is clearly defined, but also extremely flexible, which is very important for complex conditions in which Government of FBiH operates. Series of projects have been supported in different areas since beginning of the mandate and most of them successfully completed within the deadline, which is extraordinary success in conditions we are working in,” said Novalić.

Some of the projects Novalić mentioned include the ones in area of reform of rule of law, reform in area of economic law and improving system for solving economic disputes in FBiH. Great Britain secured expert assistance in analyzing and defining recommendations for improvements, as well as assistance in making the Transport Strategy, which created assumptions for unblocking projects worth over 250 million euros, including 46 million of grant funds.

“Furthermore, thanks to expert assistance of Great Britain, Federation of BiH also adopted the Energy Strategy and I hope Government of RS will do the same and that it will be adopted on level of BiH soon,” said Novalić.

Finally he mentioned project of establishing "One stop shop", which has not been completed due to complexity in implementation and series of laws that need to be amended and he added he is not happy with speed of implementation and he is personally involved in solving open issues.

“However, currently our biggest problem are blocked activities of the Government and parliaments. I plan to schedule a thematic session of the Government in the next 10 days, but I am not sure if there will be a quorum for decision making,” said Novalić.

He emphasized there are a lot of challenges ahead and that we hope for further support.

Minister Duncan underlined his country wants a strong, stable and prosperous neighborhood and that the EU accession process is very important towards achieving that.

“Even though the UK is leaving the EU, we will support the countries to fulfill the conditions. BiH is dealing with serious challenges in area of rule of law, economy and democratic reforms. It is highly important your leaders to work together and implement everything necessary for the country to be competitive and successful in the heart of Europe. We remain your friends and we will continue supporting you,” said Duncan.
